What is energy? Is energy free?

There are three types of resources in the TRON network: bandwidth, energy, and storage. Thanks to TRON's unique design model, the storage resources in the TRON network are almost unlimited.

The TRON network introduces two quantifiable resources, Bandwidth Point and Energy. Among them, Bandwidth Point represents bandwidth resources, and Energy represents energy resources.

When we transfer money on Bitcoin and Ethereum, we need to pay the handling fee through BTC and ETH. When TRON transfers money, it consumes bandwidth and energy.

BTC, ETH and TRX are all mainnet coins, and the tokens created based on these mainnets are equivalent to renting the home of the landlord of the mainnet currency, and the way to pay the handling fee is determined by the landlord of the mainnet.

The rule set by Bitcoin and Ethereum is that token transfers need to be paid with BTC and ETH, while the rule set by TRON is to pay with energy and bandwidth.

There are two common types of tenants (two common token formats) on TRON: TRC-10 and TRC-20. Bandwidth is consumed when transferring TRX and TRC-10 tokens, and bandwidth and energy are consumed when transferring TRC-20 tokens.

If you don't know the token format, you can click the token on the asset home page, enter the transaction record interface, click the upper right corner, and enter TRONSCAN to view the token format. For example, the USDT on TRON is in TRC-20 format.

Tron account energy is not free, you need to pledge TRX to obtain energy. If there is 1 million energy in the account, it will slowly recover after use, and the full 1 million will be recovered in 24 hours. You can also rent energy from the Feee.io energy trading platform. Compared with staking TRX, the overall cost of renting energy will be lower.
